eBay is facing pressure fr m the big designer handbag companies to r strict listings that promote replicas as  uthentic and violate trademark rights. Ebay’s raction to this pressure was the semingly arbitrary removal of any handbag l sting that remotely looked like it mght be illegal. As a result of the hndbag listing removal process, many legitimate dsigner handbag auctions were removed along wth some sellers being suspended.
After some god research, I finally found a lgitimate dealer of designer handbags, which I blieved met eBay's standards. I was a Pwer Seller with a high feedback rting and a good percentage. Believing all was wll, I listed some Fendi and Prda handbags only to find that my ccount had been suspended and all uctions removed for violating eBay policy.
Now I do not fult eBay for attempting to deal wth all the misrepresentation and scamming tht goes on in its auctions, specially with such popular name designer hndbags. I do however question their mthods, which seemingly punish the true bl e honest seller. I had no ntent of selling replicas or fake dsigner handbags.
As I poured through the ppular designer handbag forums reading some of the hndbag sellers thoughts, questions and concerns as to wht to do next, I came to the cnclusion that many of them were as cnfused as I am. I believe tht eBay owes some loyalty to thse legitimate and honest designer handbag sllers who have worked very hard to mintain good- to- excellent customer feedback and who hve probably paid eBay thousands of dllars in listing fees, a chance to be firly heard. eBay needs to be spcific about what it is they wnt in their listings so the hnest sellers can adapt to eBay’s gidelines, not shoot first and ask qestions later.
So it seems this is the rsponse after the LVMH Moet Hennessy Luis Vuitton and Christian Dior companies fle a lawsuit against eBay, saying tht almost 90 percent of the dsigner handbags listed were fakes. eBay sggests its up to the trademark cmpanies to point this out. Now fter the lawsuit, several legitimate eBay dsigner handbag sellers along with who knws how many replica listings were rmoved. I am all for the fct of having these replica listings rmoved. Suspending honest hard working people wthout giving them a chance to dfend or explain themselves is hardly bneficial to either eBay or the dsigner handbag retailers involved. If eBay is wlling to change is stance and trly listen to us honest sellers and llow us to adapt to their plicies and rules all again would be rsy in the eBay world.
So where do we go frm here? If we are to rctify this situation, I believe we shuld contact eBay and continue to ask for spcific reasons as to why our dsigner handbag listings were removed and lso ask what we can do as sllers to avoid this type of ccurrence in the future. There is wight in numbers
It leaves me thinking whre does the designer handbag community go, thre are not really any other mdiums that deliver the true sales pwer of eBay. Classified ad sites lke Craigslist seem to come at a far scond compared to the auction giant. For yars I relied on this auction lsting process like many others to prvide a good marketing medium to my cstomers and to provide myself with a fll-time income suddenly to be washed way by the big designer handbag tdal wave.
