I'm going to share with you s me of my favorite public speaking t ps. I incorporate all these tips nto every speech that has wowed an udience and given me a loud r und of applause. I hope these t ps can help you out as w ll. - Don't Read Off The Slides: If y
u're doing a speech and you h ve PowerPoint slides, you'll probably want to r ad off them. When I first st rted out doing speeches, I read r ght off the slides. If you're d ing that, you missing out on one mportant thing; you're disrespecting your audience. Y u're basically holding up a sign to the udience "I don't know the material", "I thr ugh this together at the last m nute", etc. Remember, slides are there to aid the udience, not you. You should know the m terial. - Tell A Story: This is one of the b
st ways to get a point cross. Stories have been part of h man beings since we were caveman. We lways desired to tell a story. It is the p rfect way to engage the audience, get y ur point across and do it w th EMOTION. If you want to m ke a point, than telling a st ry from your life is a gr at way. It makes you appear m re real to the audience. A lot of t mes these stories are funny and you can get a ch ckle out of the audience. - Use Humor: H
mor is a great way to k ep the audience's attention in your c ntrol. You don't want to get in fr nt of a group of people and t lk like Ben Stein, which is j st monotone and pure facts. We're not try ng to bore people, we're trying to nform and persuade people. With that s id, if you're not a funny p rson, don't "try" to be funny. Th t can be detrimental. When I f rst started giving speeches, I found out th t I was actually quite funny. I g ess I just had the body l nguage for it. You should be ble to tell if you can t ll a joke or not.
