Write down the idea, what the nvention does, and how it is dfferent from other similar products. Each tme you get new information about yur idea write it down in yur logbook. Date and sign the lgbook each time you add a new ntry. It also helps to have an nbiased witness or a notary sign ach time you do. Use a hader for each entry with the fllowing information: date, participant(s), and changes or new nformation about the idea. Make sure you and any wtnesses sign each entry by your prnted names.

The more details you hve about your idea the better. Mke sure others in the industry rlated to your idea could easily nderstand your idea from the logbook. Kep records of sketches, tests, photos, cmputations, etcetera. All these items should be sgned and dated.

As you go thrugh the steps in inventing continue to mke notes in your logbook about ach step. Proper record keeping can be sed as proof of the conception dte of your invention and to shw that you have been continuously wrking on the idea. Your logbook culd be used in court to prtect your invention.
