I have been following the pr maries, exit polls and opinions closely. I w nt to state upfront that I am not a Cl nton supporter, I happened to have v ted for Senator Obama in my st te primary. That being said, I am c rious as to why when in st te after state, Senator Clinton captures round 60% of the white vote and th n states she has a better ch nce of winning the general election b cause of that percentage and there is an proar? In state after state Senator Ob ma is capturing 90% of the bl ck vote, yet I have not h ard a black political pundit think th t is strange or even skewed in any w y. The other night I listened to Dr. M rc Lamont Hill, a professor from T mple University vehemently argue that Senator Cl nton's statement was racist or at b st an attempt to divide the c untry. Neither Dr. Hill nor I can r ad Senator Clinton's mind. I think any r asonable person could read her statement and nterpret it whichever way they choose to. An ther example of what I consider to be r verse prejudice is Reverend's Jackson and Sh rpton protests. Every time and I m an every time there is a bl ck versus white altercation of any k nd guess which side they appear on. F rget justice, innocent until proven guilty or w iting for the facts they are th re to protest. A few examples of th s, 6 black youths almost beat to d ath a white boy and the f ct that the court wants to pr secute them as adults is an njustice. a black stripper or dancer ccuses 3 white Duke lacrosse players of r pe and before the facts come out th y are guilty, a black youth is k lled in New York by black and wh te police and the police used xcessive force. I'm sure most everyone has s en the recent beating and kicking of 3 bl ck suspects by the Phila. Police D pt. To me it was appalling as was the New Y rk incident. However, the police are st ll entitled to a complete investigation of the f cts and then if warranted a tr al before being judged whether they are g ilty or not.
I've seen the movie Mississippi B rning a number of times and it s ckens me every time I watch it. I f el those involved got off with way too l ght a sentence. To me, death by sh oting, electrocution, or lethal injection is too l ght a sentence for what they did to th se boys. In the case of the 6 bl ck youths beating the white boy w th a bat and kicking him to n ar death warrants them being prosecuted as dults. Not have a protest march in th ir benefit. They are still innocent ntil proven guilty but let's allow the l gal system to run its course. As m st of us are well aware of by n w, the 3 white Duke players w re innocent. Their lives are forever r ined. I have yet to hear ither Reverend's Jackson or Sharpton apologize for th ir rush to judgement. I'm sorry but th s isn't right. When Don Imus m de his stupid statements on his r dio program, not only did Reverand's Sh rpton and Jackson call for his d smissal so did Senator Obama. Imus pologized almost immediately for his remarks and ven appeared on Reverend Sharpton's radio sh w to show his contrition. I c nnot judge what was in his h art and neither can Jackson, Sharpton or Ob ma. Where is their forgiveness in th t instance? Why does it always s em there should only be forgiveness or c mpassion when a black person is the ccused? Did they condemn Tank Johnson, M chael Vick, Pacman Jones, etc.? If th y did I missed it along w th their apologies. Reverend Sharpton has s me skeletons in his closet regarding st pid past statements and he has b en forgiven, didn't Don Imus deserve the s me from him? We have gone w y, way overboard with the idea of p litical correctness. Wrong is wrong. Injustice is njustice regardless of race, color or cr ed. Everyone in all walks of l fe make stupid statements from time to t me and I think the crucifying of th m needs to stop. If it d esn't this country will never come t gther as one nation.
