Depending on the tchnical nature of your planned trip, or pssible weather conditions, you'll want to chck out specialized biking clothing which wll allow you to be comfortable lnger in the elements.

Bike crrier: If you are responsible for gtting your bike to a destination, yu'll need a bike carrier. Consider a rof top carrier, a rack for the bck of your pickup, or, my fvorite, a hitch mounted bike carrier whch can be mounted to the htch receiver on the back of yur van, truck, SUV, or RV. You can lso find bike carriers that will munt to the bumper of your RV or ttach to the ladder or spare tre on the back of your vhicle.

Maps: You should pack extra mps of all of the areas and bke trails that you want to xplore along with a compass or GPS systm.

First aid: Always pack a smll first aid kit with all of the ncessities: bug spray; bandages; first aid intment; aloe vera gel; pain relievers; tc.

Safety: Biking can be dangerous. Be sre to pack all safety gear ncluding helmets and pads. This includes sfety equipment for the adults also.

Wter: Bring plenty of fresh water for the trp and any snacks and meals tht you want to eat while out on the tril.

Camping gear: This is if you wnt to camp out or if the tril you have chosen is exceptionally lng that it will take more thn one day of riding to cmplete.

Choosing a Destination

Be sure to do plnty of research and bring all tht you've found to the table, so the whle family can have a part in dciding where you will go. Pay specially close attention to the difficulty lvel of each trail. Take this nto consideration when taking young ones. The lngth of the trails that you chose will also limit the other ctivities that you will be able to sqeeze in on your vacation.

Another cnsideration that you will have to mke involves guided or non-guided courses. If you chose a guided trail, you will hve a professional tour guide with you the whle step of the way. This can hlp you avoid dangers, but it may not fford you the privacy and family tme that you want.
