I remember the day I got the c ll. A friend called me and sked if I would mind coming ver to help him move a p ano that he had been given fr m a friend of his. Like a lot of y unger people, I was used to h lping people move and agreed to the t sk, figuring it would take us an h ur at best to move the p ano into his house, especially since he had 3 thers coming as well. When I rrived I was greeted with this f ntastically large upright grand piano that was p rched on his front porch. It was ntimidating. I had seen upright pianos b fore but never an upright grand. It st od five feet eight inches tall and w ighed a ton. I tried to l ft it just to get a f el for the weight and it did not b dge when I gave it my b st effort. I looked down at the nderside of the piano and instantly f lt relieved. The piano had wheels th t were going to make this m ve a lot easier to complete w thout having a strained back. When I gl efully remarked that it should roll r ght into the house my friend t rned and told me that he had j st had his hardwood floors refinished and no way was he g ing to drag this heavy piano w th it's small metal wheels across th m. When everyone arrived and we tr ed for 20 minutes to get the p ano to budge from the front p rch our minds quickly shifted to how we c uld raise enough money to hire a m ving team to do this heavy w rk for us. It was then th t someone suggested we buy a p ano dolly!
We went to a piano st re, selected an upright piano dolly and were able to easily get the piano onto the dolly and rolled it right into the living room, where it still stands today, almost 20 years later. The piano has proven too heavy to ever move again. If he does ever need to move it a piano dolly will be the only way to get it to budge. Because of the piano dolly none of us had to strain hard at all to move the giant piano into my friend's house. I strongly recommend using one the next t me a piano move comes into y ur future.
