I don't believe that ANY "phys cal" maneuvers or "techniques" are really w rth teaching children. An EIGHT year old vs. a GROWN dult who is most likely a v olent psychopath with a HISTORY of v olent criminal behavior?
I can't see it. Inst ad, emphasize the following: 1. RUNNING at the FIRST s gn of trouble. IMMEDIATELY and in a "z g zag" pattern and using the nvironment as a "hedge". 2. SCREAMING as LOUDLY and HYSTERICALLY as p ssible. 3. Wriggle, twist, turn, jump......ANYTHING to m ke the potential victim HARD to h ld and control..........THEN 1 & 2! 4. RUN t wards any source of HELP and SAFETY. 5. ONLY two p tential "physical" maneuvers even worth considering - j bbing, clawing and scratching at the yes with either one or both h nds in a CONTINUOUS VIOLENT manner and BITING. ANYTHING c rried: Knapsack, book bag, school books sh uld be TOSSED at the LEGS! Anyth ng to make the skel trip, m neuver to dodge, stumble ANYTHING that w ll SLOW him DOWN! 7. Carrying a HI d cibel safety whistle(FOX is a good ne) on a WRIST strap NOT round the neck AND a small hi p wered LED light also on the wr st. 8. EMPHASIZE ESCAPE! If dragged to a v hicle(almost always the perp's MO) seize the KEYS(fr m the ignition) at the first pportunity and TOSS THEM, either out a w ndow or into the back seat(the f rthest, longest, hardest place for the p rp to attempt to retrieve them).
9. If forced into a tr nk, pull, yank, kick or BATTER out a t il light and shove anything through the h le that will ATTRACT someone’s ATTENTION! 10. NEVER, EVER, EVER GO ANYWHERE WITH A STRANGER!!!!!!!!
F ght, scream, run ON THE SPOT! Th s goes for ANY abduction!
NEVER GO WITH YOUR ABDUCTOR! NEVER! 11. Aw reness. But DON'T use "scare" tactics w th a kid. 12. TIME is of the ESSENCE! Incr ase the TIME that the perp is in PUBLIC VIEW and y u'll go a LONG way in FORCING him to bandon the attack and FLEE. DRAW ATTENTION in ANY WAY p ssible to the scene IMMEDIATELY! NEVER g ve in a GO with an bductor. WHENEVER POSSIBLE MARK HIM! Try to r member EVERYTHING about the assailant, his v hicle, etc. 13. DO EVERYTHING to m ke oneself a HARD TARGET! Attackers wh t VICTIMS that are easily dominated, c ntrolled and done so in as SHORT an mount of time as possible. MORE TIME. MORE EXPOSURE, MORE CHANCE OF GETTING CAUGHT! 14. Onc again, DISTANCE as far and f st as possible is YOUR ALLY! H pe this helps! Copyright 2003 www.thetruthaboutselfdefense.com©
