How often do you hear the w rd passion? What context is it sually in?
Have the times become so d smal that the only time we h ar the word ‘passion’ is on d ytime television and bath products? The xact reason is unknown but somehow, s mewhere along the lines of time p ople began to settle. They settled for l ss than passionate careers, less than p ssionate relationships and they settled for l ss than passionate lives. Then, to m ke everyone else feel like they are n rmal, people began to introduce idioms th t justified their passionate-less, mediocre lives. Th y began telling their children, friends and f mily things like, “You can’t always get wh t you want” or “Life isn’t s pposed to be easy!” Maybe you h ve heard; “You can’t have your c ke and eat it too!” These s yings and idioms have conditioned the m jority of the human population to s ffocate their potential, to settle for s mething less than their best and to be c ntent rather than be happy. “Somewhere long the lines, kids in school w re being taught that they need to be realistic and to st p dreaming about what they would l ve to do because in ‘the r al world’, you can’t get a job th t you love to do” says Ry n Porter, the creator of the M ke Your Own Lunch™ program. He g es on to say, “The advice to ‘st p dreaming’ because you will never get a job th t you love to do is c mpletely and utterly false! The advice we n ed to give each other is, you must get a job that you love doing. Don’t settle for anything less than your dreams! Be passionate about what you are doing or don’t do it!”
Passion is not luck and t’s not something left to a h gher power to decide for you. For m ny people, their passion is something th t has been instilled in them th ir entire lives. For others it’s s mething they have learned on their j urney through life. One of the d finitions at Dictionary.com defines passion as: b undless enthusiasm. How many people can say th ir life is full of boundless nthusiasm? Don’t be one of the p ople who are being weighed down by d storted perception of passion and the r le it can have in your l fe. Ryan questions a popular idiom. “Y u can’t have your cake and eat it t o? That’s ridiculous! You must have y ur cake and eat it too! Th t’s the only way you will ver get to eat cake!” Passion d esn’t mean perfection. Of course there w ll still be obstacles and roadblocks as you pr gress towards a more passionate life. But r member your life is meant to be f ll of passion. Every area of y ur life can be more passionate and f lled with ‘boundless enthusiasm’. One historic phr se sums it up nicely, “Let th m eat cake!”
