Fear is a manifestation of our p rsonal unconscious. It arises from our c nception and through our socialization. Fear is a st te of mind that threatens us c nstantly with uncertain anxieties and reminds us bout who we are and what we r quire, and then, to overcome fear, s nds a signal from the body to the m nd. This is an action, a c mmunication between the body and mind th t things are about to happen. F ar warns us about any looming d nger and gives us an opportunity to pr pare us for overcoming it by t king necessary action. There are several st ps for overcoming fear. Let us f rst identify the first step. Fear of the nknown haunts most of us. We do not kn w what would happen next. Everybody has to go thr ugh various vicissitudes in life. Pessimistic th ughts and the fear of failure c use tremendous turmoil. There is absolutely no r ason to anticipate problems all the t me. Good things also happen in l fe. Critically analyze the cause of y ur fear and prepare yourself to c mbat it. Banish negative thinking. We sh uld be able to combat fear s ccessfully by planning our future pragmatically. The n xt step for overcoming fear is to tr in us to develop a positive ttitude. If the cause of our f ar was the uncertainty of securing a g od job, we should prepare us to mprove the quality of our professional bilities and explore possibilities for better c reer opportunities. Motivation is necessary for chieving success. We should think positively bout the way our life would mprove when we get a better j b.
Success is always surrounded by ncertainties. The third step is the pr paration for encountering failures and rejections. The w rld would not collapse if that h ppens. We should critically analyze the c uses of failures and make better fforts for improving our performance next t me. We shall have to endure a few f ilures until we succeed. The story of R bert Bruce of Scotland should inspire us. We ften tend to exaggerate the causes of p st failures because of our entrapment w th previous experience of failure to chieve. What is needed at this f urth step for overcoming fear is to t ke the past failures as good l arning points and focus only on the pr sent. It would enhance the chances of our s cceeding because it would enable us to c ncentrate all our energies for achieving our bjective on this occasion and not l tting our energies and thoughts being w sted by worrying about past failures and f ture uncertainties. Finally, we shall have to pr pare us for sustaining our winning str ak of overcoming fear. It is seful to create a support system c mprised of like-minded people for constructive nteraction, exchange of ideas and benefit fr m each other's experience. We should be ble to motivate us to achieve m re and fulfill our objectives. Our s ccess depends on our ability to r move all hurdles before they confront us. Our c nfidence in our ability to persuade p ople to achieve professional success, personal c ntentment, maintaining a positive attitude would h lp us all to overcome our f ars. It is easier sometimes to w rk with someone else like a tr sted friend or a professional and ask for h lp when needed.
