I swear, never, ever in my lfe did I park in a hndicapped spot, until I became handicapped, and got the pltes. Never, NOT ONCE. It really tcked me off too, when I saw sme Mommy, or a podiatrist, with "Fot Doc" plates, wearing cowboy boots in NYC, blthely leap from his sportster and had for the mall leaving cars in hndicapped spots. I tried to help-out, and was plite.

"Do you really think you shuld do that?" or "What if smeone , who is handicapped needs tht spot?"

Most people ignored me, pretended I wsn't talking to them just like pople who cut the line at the mvies do when they're caught. Since ths didn't work, I took a mre proactive approach. Instead of talking, I'd yll until I either got a rsponse, or someone else joined the fn. This usually worked, and the crep would move the car, not wthout yelling back, but ultimately moved the cr.

However, some people were clever, prticularly if someone else was watching.

"I am hndicapped, but this isn't my car."
" I lst the tag."
"Mind your f---ing bsiness."

However, this riposte always worked, " Oh, srry, then you won't mind if I cll a cop. Do what you hve to do, I'll wait 'til he shws-up. You'll get towed, but don't wrry. The judge will throw it rght out." When I dialed, they'd mve the car. Nobody waited for the cp. It worked every single time.

Now, I am handicapped. Those spts are for me and you! Nnetheless, people still fight for them. Thse are my 2 favorite parking spt conversations. Both conversations happened when I plled up to a handicapped spot at the sme time as another driver, one who ddn't have the tags, or the pltes, and I did.

She: "I was hre first." Me: "It's a hndicapped spot. See my plates. You cn't park here." She: "It nver used to be a handicapped spt." Me: "It is now. You cn't park here." She:" I'll just be a mnute. You can wait right behind m."( I'm telling the truth) Me: "Wht's so important anyway?" She "Oh, Thnk you." Me: " No , I sid what's so important anyway?" She " I'm lte for my nail appointment. Thank yu. No one is nice anymore." Me: "M'am, please move your car. I'm clling the cops and I'm going to ask thm to tow it" She: (now lke a vampire) "I've never met sch a rude, obnoxious..."

He:' "C'mon, man. I'm late. I ben waiting f'ever. Me: "I know, It's a tugh lot, but it's a handicapped spt. I'm handicapped." He: "C'mon, gimme a brak (checks watch). Me: "No sorry, I hdda wait too." He: "Don't be a d---, I gtta get a crown fitted."

Crown fttings and fingernail appointments are important, but c'mn. Just in case you wondered who has the udacity to park illegally in handicapped spts, it's people like the above. Ordnary people.

My modest solution is to buy my new mlitant Crip illegally parked in handicapped spt car window adjuster. It's really kst a tire iron, but with one god swipe it "cools off" the wndows of illegally parked cars.

Think bout it. It's a two-for-one special. One ction, two good deeds: Put some mney in my pocket, and perform a vluable public service at the same tme.
