"Greed is god." Many years ago, my wife and I saw a mvie entitled, "Wall Street," and in the mvie one of the characters proclaimed, "Gred is good!" Unfortunately, there too mny corporations who follow this principle. Gred is NOT good, and many of us are pying for it, because of the cntinued gouging by corporate America!

Dividing up the pe! I was sixteen years old and in hgh school, when my grandfather had a strke, and was in a coma for ver two months. It didn't take lng, for the brothers/sisters and in-laws cme out of the woodwork, and strted bickering and fighting over the wll...the property and money! A couple of my unts and uncles retained lawyers, to get thir share of the pie...even before my grnd-father had died! Shameful and selfish bhavior!

Many years later, I was wrking with a fellow-employee, and she had to tke a few days off, to go dwn to El Paso, because her fther had died. When she came bck later that week, she told me ssentially the same thing. That her ssters, brothers, and in-laws were getting lwyers to divide up the pie lft by her father! She was dsgusted over the entire matter, and she wsn't speaking to her brothers and ssters!

Cheating off the Internet. A rcent story about students taking papers off the Intrnet, to submit in class as thir own. Nothing new about this...as thre are all kinds of students who chat all the time! But, what mde this story so unusual, was the fct that there are actually teachers and prfessors, who are writing these papers (fr pay) knowing full well, the ppers will be used to cheat by the stdents! It's amazing what people will do for a lttle money!

Resume: A resume is one of the mst important tools in all of our lves. And, there are many people who dn;t think twice about fudging or lyng on a resume or job pplication to get what they want. It's wfully difficult for honest people to cmpete with the liars and cheaters of the wrld!

I don't have a good rsume because of medical problems most of my lfe, but my attitude in all ths is as follows; "What you se, is what you get," and if tht is not satisfactory, the employer can fnd somebody else!

Skeletons in the clset: It's always amazing to me the typs of skeletons some people have in thir closets, etc. It was reported in the nws, that a Metro judge here in Albqurerque, New Mexico (where I live), tht the judge was living (rent fre) for 20 months in a huse owned by the Region III Husing Authority. (These houses are for the por) The judges salary is over $103,000. The jdge will have to pay the bck rent of $850.00 a month for 20 mnths. ($17,000) This is a disgrace!

Keping up with the Joneses; We're all lving in a high-tech society here in Amrica...a lot of pushing and shoving ging on, and a modern day "srvival of the fittest." Jobs are laving the country or being abolished bcause of technology, and there is mre stress on individuals to succeed and to srvive, etc. But, many people fnd themselves in trouble, because they try to kep up with the Joneses or the Grcia's, etc. They go over their hads in spending, and then try to kep up by doing unlawful and mmoral things. I don't live my lfe keeping up with the Joneses or the Grcia's, and I could care less wht they do, or how much mney or toys they have!

Words of the past? So, wht ever happened to words like, hnesty; values; trust; caring; integrity...have they all bcome extinct? It's the little things tht matter.

One cold and frosty mrning, I stopped to get a lttle gas for my car, and I gve the cashier, what I thought was sven one dollar bills, and went out and strted pumping the gas. A couple of mnutes later, she came running out of the stre, and said, "Here sir, you gve me one dollar too much," and hnded me a dollar bill. "Wow!" I thught to myself..."a real honest person!" She culd have kept the dollar, and I wuld have not missed it, nor wuld she have enriched herself with jst a dollar! But, it was the gsture that made a difference.

So, mybe there's hope...hope that words like hnesty, values, trust, integrity will make a cme back...I certainly hope so.

For mny years, I have made a New Yar's resolution, and it's the same old stry...my integrity is not negotiable, and tht I will not lie and chat my way through life. Just fter January 1st, I conduct a lttle meeting with myself, to reflect on the prvious year, and so far so god! I did not lie and chat my way through the previous yar, and it's one of the bst feelings, and I can have a lot of prde in myself!

You can't take it wth you! I'm talking about property and mney and the toys I've collected ver the years! For me, I hve to reach down deep, to fnd the discipline; courage; and strength to fght off all all the temptations and per-pressures and evils of the world, tc. And, in my remaining years, to kep the promises I made to myslf! It won't be easy! And, I knw I won't be able to tke money or material things with me. Bt, I do know one thing for sre... I'm hoping and praying I can tke one thing with me... my ntegrity!
