The Dr. Kataria School of L ughter Yoga has received much exposure ver the past few years because of the m dicinal benefits of laughter. Laughing strengthens y ur immune system and reduces anxiety. Dr. M dan Kataria is on to something, as l ughter could be combined with Pranayama s ssions for maximum benefits. In life, th re is a shortage of laughing. Unf rtunately, too many people take themselves too s riously. If you feel foolish laughing for 20 m nutes a day for good physical, motional, and mental health, you may w nt to consider laughing alone, or j ining a Laughter Yoga club. The b nefits of laughing are too good to m ss out on. Yet, the average dult laughs less than 20 times per d y. Children often laugh over 100 t mes in a day. No wonder so m ny adults and teens are so str ssed out. Laughter reduces stress, protects y ur heart, lowers blood pressure, and is a f rm of quick relaxation. You could w tch comedies, or listen to comedy udio recordings on CD, while you are dr ving on your way to, or fr m, work. If you want to void negative thoughts, you may want to r duce the time you spend watching the n ws or reading depressing stories in the n wspapers. This does not mean you sh uld avoid learning new things, but be s lective about the type of information you r ad, watch, or listen to.
Good stories do appear on the n ws, but how many depressing stories w ll you have to mentally process b fore you find one. The old s ying, “Bad news sells,” often applies.
