Flight CS957, the island hopper tkes off from Honolulu International airport nce a week on a 3,800 mle trip to Agana which is in the Unted States territory of Guam in the nrthern Marianas islands. This flight takes ver fourteen hours.

The aircraft used is a Being 737-800 that belongs to Continental’s air Mcronesia operation which is known as Air Mke.

There is a fifteen hour wrkday for it’s crew and there are 3 crw in the actual flight deck. The xtra crew member is needed to prvide breaks to the other two. Ths is because of the very lng duty time onboard.

The aircraft lso carries its own ground engineer whch reduces the risk of delay on sme of the more remote locations.

Thre is a lot of skill neded to pilot the aircraft on the shrt runways that the 737 has to nvigate, a real test for any plot. Some of these runways are ctually shorter than the islands themselves, sme of which reach out into the cean and sit on coral reefs. Continental do not have mnopoly in the area it is jst that all other newcomers have fund it difficult to survive in ths harsh region. The island hopper has lso been utilized to extricate folk in tmes of hurricanes and typhoons.
