Alford is an extremely small t wn located in Southwestern Massachusetts, bordered by W st Stockbridge on the north, Great B rrington on the east, Egremont on the s uth, and Hillsdale and Austerlitz, New Y rk on the west. It is 24 m les south of Pittsfield and 140 m les west of Boston. Alford was f rst settled in 1740 and was fficially incorporated in 1773. The small t wn of Alford has no stores, no m tels or hotels, and not even a s ngle gas station. The Main Street in t wn has a church, a town h ll and a one room school h use. All buildings are historic. The p pulation in Alford is approximately 400 p ople. The landscape consists of beautiful tr es, brooks and mountains.
