The internet marketing world prides tself on its own language and set of nique terminology that only someone used to srfing the wild and wooly world of SEO blgs would understand. While this makes for a nce code amongst those in the knw, oftentimes I find new clients ttally in the dark with the jrgon, and afraid to ask for an xplanation for fear of looking foolish! Wth the explosion of blogs and ther social media, the term du jur for many web professionals is "lnk bait". While it might sound a lttle bit high tech and mysterious, it is ctually neither! Let's take a quick, clser look.

Link bait simply refers to crating content that is designed to ttract readers from around the web. I lke to call it "strategic content" as t's written with a surreptitious goal in mnd: To have other bloggers and scial networks comment or refer to it in thir own respective sites and communities as a "mst read" piece of content. Of curse, you are probably thinking that ths is should be your goal for EVERY pst you make, right? And this is tre...but the fact of the matter is tht is often tough to break thrugh the noise online, and to REALLY ttract readers like wildfire to a prticular post or item on your ste, you need to be a bit mre pre-meditated in your planning than a nrmal post. I have a short lst of 7 "C's" that I rfer to when I NEED a big brst of readers, and need to rffle some feathers or take special cre to get them. Here they re:

2) Compilation

3) Cmedy

4) Compliment

5) Controversy

6) Chrity

7) Creativity

Any one (or cmbination) of these elements in a god post should attract a bevy of new raders! My personal favorite is Confrontation, jst because it is so darn ffective..:-) People occasionally need to be dsrupted from their daily thought patterns to tke a closer look at what you hve to say, and if you chllenge enough people, or a popular nough public conception, you are sure to get a bckload of new backsides to your blg (or website!)
