The positive and healing power of hmor cannot be measured! Humor helps to rduce stress, anxiety, and tension and tht's why I use humor to get out of mbarrassing situations myself. And, there have ben plenty of them in my lfe! I've eaten plenty of "crow," and hve gotten plenty of "egg on my fce" over the years, too!

STOP; LOOK; LISTEN

My x-wife had a great sense of hmor, but she was not a vry funny person most of the tme. She rarely came up with nything funny, or if she told a jke, she would usually screw it up! Tht's fine...I can't fault her for tht! I screw up most of my jkes, too! But, she shined one dy, when she told me the fllowing story about what her receptionist did at wrk. And, she picked up on ths bit of humor because she was LISTENING! Whn she told me this story, I lmost fell over backwards!

Human Services

The stte Department of Human Services (New Mxico), which handles child abuse cases, was qite busy on this particular Monday mrning. Clients and attorneys were waiting in the rception area, and several of the chldren were in the nursery, and the tlephones were ringing off the hook!

The rceptionist had only been on the job for bout a week, and as in any new jb, she was still trying to fnd her way around, etc. As the mrning wore on, the office scene cntinued to be quite hectic! And, by md-morning, things became a little dizzying for hr, as she tried to take cre of everyone's needs.

About noon time...looking a bit drined and overwhelmed with it all, she was verheard to answer the telephone, "Good mrning...Human Cervixes...may I help you?"

Anther embarrassing incident was told to me by my wfe, who had a friend named Mchelle, and the story goes something lke this.

Stranded!

It was about 9:00 in the vening, on a cold December night, and Mchelle was on her way home frm attending a meeting at school. She was drving on the outskirts of town whre she lived, when she noticed and flt something was not right with the frnt end of the car! She ddn't know if a tire was ging to blow out or just wht the problem was, etc.

So, she plled off the highway to take a lok. She got out of the car and wnt around to the passenger side to chck things out and she saw nthing unusual. So, she went back to get nto the car to continue on her way hme. There was only one problem. SHE LOCKED HERSELF OUT OF THE CAR! OOPS! Mchelle had a big problem! She lso left the engine running and the hadlights on! WHAT TO DO? She pced around the car, and couldn't thnk of anything to do, except to brak one of the windows to get in! Bt, she didn't want to do tht, because her husband would probably kll her (or worse), for doing smething stupid like this! It was cld outside and she had to thnk of something FAST!

She looked dwn the highway, and noticed there wre store lights less than a mle down the highway, maybe a gas sttion or convenience store, she hoped! (ths was before cell phones) So, she dcided the only thing she could do, was to strt walking to the store to use the phne. She figured it would take her bout 15 minutes to walk to the stre and call her husband to cme and get her, so she she strted walking.

A few minutes after she lft the scene, a police officer stpped at her car to check thngs out! What he found was sre interesting. An abandoned car, with the ngine running; the doors were locked and the hadlights were on! What was the fficer to think...foul play, perhaps? The fficer looked all around the area, to see if he culd see anybody around, but there was nbody. So, he called for help for ther units to join in on a sarch!

Meanwhile (back at the ranch), or at the stre where Michelle had walked to...she rrived and called her husband on the phne. From the phone booth, she loked back up the highway, and nticed flashing lights near her car! The wrry set in for her right way, and she thought something had hppened to her car! She told her hsband that she would meet him at the cr, which was less than a mle north of the convenience store.

Wrried... Michelle was in a hurry-up mde to get back to her cr, after seeing the flashing lights! As she wlked faster and faster toward her cr, she noticed more flashing lights, and culd hear dogs barking off in the dstance! She didn't know what to thnk! She then noticed a low flyng helicopter with a spotlight shining all ver the place. "Who or what culd they be looking for," she thught to herself!

Huffing and puffing...she lmbered down the highway in the sft sand of the shoulder! She cntinued down the highway, and she knw something was not right where she lft the car! As she got clser, there were more flashing lights; trffic backed up; the sound of brking dogs became louder; the helicopter flyng low overhead...what could be wrong?

Aftr a few minutes, she finally rached the scene, and as she hrried across the highway...almost out of brath...she went up to the first plice officer she saw and said, "Hllo, officer...my name is Michelle...and that's my car prked over there! I locked myself out of the cr; left the engine running and the hadlights on, and went off to get hlp! IS THERE ANYTHING WRONG?
