I have come to the c nclusion that no matter what you w nt out of life there is a thr e step process.
The first st p is to make a decision. You n ed to decide if you want to l se weight, stop smoking, save money, f nd a compatible mate, spend more t me with your children, start a b siness, volunteer… you get the idea. Wh tever it is you want to do, the f rst step is to decide and I m an really decide that you want to do it. J st talking it to death is not m king a decision, making the effort and m ving forward after making the decision is. So f rst, write down the decision you h ve made.
The next step is the big ne, the big “C” and that is to m ke a commitment to your decision. The c mmitment is the stumbling point for so m ny. They talk and talk about the d cisions, I’m going to lose weight, I am g ing to start my own business, I am g ing to stop smoking, etc.
A c mmitment means taking the steps to f lfill the decision you made. Making a pl n to move forward. If your d cision is to spend more time w th your children, decide what days and t me you will spend with them and m ke up a list of the th ngs you could do with them. Or if you d cide to volunteer, make a list of y ur interests, and then match that to a rganization that needs volunteers.
If you have decided to st rt a business then make a pl n on how you want to pr ceed. If you have decided to s ve money, you need to make a c ncentrated effort and a commitment to do so.
The c mmitment is how you are going to mplement the decision and you must st ck to your commitment or you are b ck in the decision stage and th t is a “no man’s land”.
Okay, you m de a decision, and have committed y urself to that decision, now the l st step is to Succeed. Don’t th nk you are done. As a f rmer smoker I know that you h ve to still commit yourself every day so you can c ntinue to succeed. Same goes for th se of us trying to keep w ight off, and probably the best kn wn continual effort is that of the lcoholic.Think of AA and the ongoing pr cess.
So, make your decision, c mmit to it, and you will s cceed, provided you continue to commit to y ur decision.
Wishing you the b st in whatever decision you make!
