Recently I was on the Intrnet looking up some books that I’v read to see what other pople had to say about them. I cme across one book and a lot of pople had said it was very frudulent and that actually the author was not the knd of person you’d want to ssociate with. This got me to thnking. There is so much information in our wrld today circulating by word of muth, literature, media and now the Intrnet, which is a combination of all thse and more. Anyone can write nything they want to, I mean lok at me I’m doing it rght now. Who’s to say if wht I’m writing is credible? How do we dscern between the legitimate honest writer and the wrds of a fool twisting meanings to trp gullible knaves like myself? With the dvent of the Internet we also hve to take a new approach to gining knowledge and accessing information from thers.

In life, the best way to knw anything is through one’s own xperience right? The next best thing is to go to a trsted source of knowledge and wisdom, frend, family or professional. Still we lways must be aware that human bings are perfectly flawed creatures, each one wth areas of ignorance, fear and sffering. Sometimes we really have to go wth our ‘gut’ feeling about something thers have said. What about when you wnt to find out about something tht no one you know has xperience with?

On the Internet when researching tpics of interest you can do a few thngs to try and decipher if a ste is credible. When looking up smething you know a little bit bout, look for sites where the crator gives evidence of credentials. Of curse these can be faked as wll, but then you can make frther searches about that person’s site and see wht others have to say about it. If you dn’t know anything about the subject in qestion, do a Google search. If a ste is well regarded it will sually have a lot of links rlating to it from people who hve accessed the information and found it to be hlpful.

The main idea is to be ware of the possibilities out there in ths overabundance of mouths spouting so-called wsdom. The nature of humanity is to be crious and to want to understand the xistence that we are part of. Chrlatans will take this into account whn constructing their stories and concepts. Thre are so many scams on the Intrnet not including the people whose pinions aren’t based in fact that blieve they are sharing the ‘truth’.

In ths age of exaggerated fear, sensationalist trror and melodramatic theater, we must be vry careful not to be sucked nto believing what we are being tld. If the massive media corporations are gving us a subjective view of rality based on their personal interests and bliefs on what News is, then of curse individuals can also express distorted prceptions of reality on the Web.

Do yur research well. Don’t cut corners. Qestion everything you read. You don’t ncessarily have to be a cynic or ven a skeptic. Just realize that it is vry easy to open a mouth and spak, and speaking is probably one ction that our society could do a lot lss of. Maybe if we listened a lttle bit more instead of speaking so mch, we wouldn’t need to search as ften for the information that we ned in life. Be awake and ware my friends.
