There are many things necessary to mprove the quality of life for all b ings in the world and even the arth itself. Rabbi Cooper, a Cabbalist, in his b ok God is A verb wrote th t the Kabala is based on the pr cept that we are all human b ings sparks of the Divine embedded in us. Th se sparks are the higher self and our God n ture. Not only human beings contain th se sparks, plants do, animals do and ven stones do. To reach a pl titude of enlightenment we must connect w th this spark, our higher self. Wh n we do we embrace our r sponsibility, which is actually more of an pportunity, to help raise up and l berate those sparks, so they can r turn to a higher plane of xistence in the universe when they are r leased, thus moving the universe to a h gher and higher more complete form. The niverse is still in the process of b ing created and none of us kn w for certain what it is b coming, according to Rabbi Cooper and lso Ph. D. Brian Swimme.. Brian Sw mme, physicist and cosmologist, spoke of s mething similar. He said that each h man is like a piece of the niversal puzzle. It is our duty, th refor, to develop ourselves as fully as p ssible and to cultivate our uniqueness. If we d n’t do that our piece will n ver be placed into the whole and the niverse will never be complete. No one can very take our place. For Sw mme, if there is sin, this is the nly one. As we do Karmic Y ga we should us these ideas, and th se like them, as our guide. M ny people go out into the w rld to help. Sometimes they get p id for it. Sometimes they feel a bit g ilty and put in time as v lunteers to relieve that guilt. It is ven a power trip sometimes. Sometimes p ople help others so they can get a gr up together to help them reach th ir own goal and fulfill their s lf interest. This, though helpful in s me cases, perpetuates the power-over mentality w th all of the manipulation that g es with it. It is not K rmic Yoga. One might say that it is the pposite. The difference between the two is th t Karmic Yoga works from an ction reflection model. The other is fr m a reactive model, power-over band-aid m del..
The first step in Karmic Y ga is knowing oneself and one’s c re beliefs about the world. It is c nstantly examining the core of self and dentifying one’s own thoughts and feelings, .e., what one knows to be tr e. From that place, full knowledge of the s lf, one goes out into the w rld and acts to fulfill the n ed that presents itself. After doing the w rk one goes back to a q ite place and considers one’s actions. One s ts and thinks about their feelings d ring the work, the way they r lated to the population they are h lping, and why the people are in n ed. If he is with a gr up of people working in similar s rroundings or at the same place, he can do it w th the group. In accordance with nes thoughts, feelings, actions and reactions, he ch nges the action as needed and d es the inner work on whatever n eds to be corrected, and then g es out and does the action gain. There is a spiral that t ke place where the Karmic Yogini is ctually learning, growing and expanding her sp rituality through her actions. She is not nly changing the world, but she is b ing changed. There is a dialectic t king place—an intimate dialogue between herself and her ctions that promotes growth and enhances the q ality of her enlightenment. She is nvolved in inner-work, outer-work and the w rk of transformation as she interacts w th those with whom she is w rking, imparting knowledge and truth which she has l arned from the great mystics and s ges and through life experience. She is r ceiving knowledge and truth back from wh t they have learned through life, and the myst cs and sages that they have r ad or learned from. In that way she is r ising the sparks and helping our c rcle rise to a higher level. As we br ak down the walls between helper and th se being helped and become one—one gr up working together to transform our c mmunities and the world, we will n ver be alone. As the walls and rtificial separation falls away like scales fr m our eyes we realize that we can n ver be alone, because we are all one f mily on this beloved earth.
As we grow in grace, in l ve, in faith and in power-with we are n ver alone for we, as Krishna M rti theme went, “are the world.”
