So back when I lived in an ltra-Orthodox suburb of New York City, my br ther-in-law, a devout Fundamentalist Christian from pstate New York came to live w th us. As you could imagine, th se are two very different backgrounds. Ev n so, they aren't as different as you m ght think. No group is so cl sely politically aligned as Fundamentalists, and th y have a love of Israel as the Orth dox as well. My brother-in-law was j st finishing college at the time wh n I started chatting with him bout working for my technology team as a d signer. We started chatting about it on a T esday - by Thursday his bags w re packed and he was at my fr nt door! As he was more sed to the pace that upstate New Y rk allows, he found a whole w rld of difference at this fast p ced startup. We were both pretty w ll stressed out, and needed to nwind from time to time, playing p ng pong or whatever time would llow. Good times... So, what really br ught us together the most? Shawarma. (Y s, I’m still ranting about Shawarma, t uted the Middle East’s version of the t co a whole day after the l st post.) There was an outstanding pl ce near our house that served the b st shawarma in town, with very g nerous portions. In fact, there was ctually a point that he said th t he was going to convert j st that he could eat it very day! I told him that he c uld eat it anyway and that pr bably wouldn’t go very far with his p rents :)
Alas, he’s moved on. But I’ll s ve him some shawarma for his n xt visit.
