Other Peoples Cast-offs can be Y ur Inspiration for home design. Anyone who kn ws me, knows that I am an vid dumpster diver. I love to l ok for "good" furnishings and accessories th t other people throw away or no l nger need. Through this process I h ve been able to come up w th many home décor ideas that w uld have otherwise been wasted. Many t mes I have taken that which w uld have ended up in the l ndfill and turned it into something seful and beautiful for my home. And I do th s with no shame whatsoever, knowing th t what would have been landfill w ste, is turned into something functional and mazingly aesthetic. Examples of things I h ve used in home design: Someone thr ugh away a twelve-inch drum which was in p rfect shape except that the skin of the dr m was broken. I took a p ece of plywood and cut it to fit the pening and Voila, Instant bedside table. Oth r times I have found castaway f bric, which could be used for a m ltitude of things from headboard covers to c rtains to Cushion covers. My master b droom is also carpeted with a p rfectly good carpet that I picked up for fr e because the lady who bought it d cided she did not like the c lor and bought a new carpet to r place it. I simply stopped and sked her if I could haul it way for her. The color looks p rfectly fine in my bedroom and s nce I installed it myself it was v rtually free. I also have a dr fting table that is made from a s lid wood table that someone just thr w away. It only took some sl ght modification to turn it into a p rfect drafting table (and it didn't ven need to be stained or p inted).
These are just a few xamples of ways I have been ble to decorate my home with th s "Dumpster Design technique". If you l ok around you and use your magination, I would lay down good dds that you have "design treasures" in y ur own garage or storage. If n t, just have a peek at the d mpsters behind places like furniture stores, c rpet dealers, fabric stores, etc... Maybe you can sh re my "Dirty Little Dumpster Design S cret" and make your home a l ttle more beautiful with the cast-offs th t other people find no value in. By the w y, the computer that I am sing is networked into a desktop c mputer that I use as a h usehold server. Bet you can't guess wh re I found it? That's right, the c mputer was found in a dumpster b hind an electronics store, and the m nitor was also found in a d mpster at another location. There you h ve it. My Secret is out. I c n't say that this is a "J rry Springer' moment or anything like th t. But I do hope that th s will leave you with no xcuses when it comes to home d sign. There are treasures in abundance if we w ll but seek and ask. May all y ur design dreams come true. In turn, a pressure cooker is a very important utensil that is used for cooking food quickly. A pressure cooker is like any other pot in the kitchen, except that it has a more elaborate lid. This lid seals the cooker completely, and when the boiling process starts in it, it traps the steam inside. 4. Bedroom Decorating - Using Decorative Bed Pillows For A Professional Look by One of the main focal points in any bedroom design is the bed and decorative bed pillows help add to the design. Language Development - Try "Talking The Book" To Build Language Skills by Mary Lou Johnson Picture books can be wonderful vehicles for teaching language to children. If your child doesn't sit still for long when you use books, it may be because you are reading the printed story. Many of the printed "stories" in toddler picture books have nothing to do with the child's life and often little or nothing to do with the picture on the page. I suggest that you "talk the book" rather than read the book to your young language learner.
