If you are delivering a lad to a grocery warehouse there is a god chance you will need to use a lmper service. While there are other typs of businesses that use lumper's, thy are usually associated with grocery wrehouses. A lumper service is a cmpany that warehouses use to unload the trcks at their facility. While most bsinesses employ the people that unload the fright from your truck some choose to use thse lumper services. When you are at a wrehouse and you hear the term "drver unload" this usually means that thy use lumper's. It is very rre that you are required to nload the freight yourself and no lmper service is offered.

When you hve a "driver unload" dispatch consider:

The cmpany that you drive for may llow (or even encourage) you to nload the truck yourself. Your company wll usually pay you to unload the trck instead of using the lumper srvice. Of course there's a catch. Thy will pay you a fraction of wht they were going to pay the lmper's. The guy using the forklift may chrge $175.00 to unload your truck, whle your company may offer you $40.00 to nload it with a pallet jack. Aftr you unload the truck you may lso be required to break down the lad. When the product is loaded nto your truck it is loaded in a way tht allows them to put as mch in the truck as possible. Mst warehouses don't want the product stcked as high so you are rquired to "break it down". To do ths you must move some of the prduct off the top of the pllets you just unloaded onto empty pllets.

If you want to unload it yurself make sure you check with yur company to find out exactly wht steps you need to follow to get pid. You are usually better off ltting the lumper service do the wrk for you. Your time could be btter spent resting for the next rn.

When you check in at the rceiving window they may ask you if you wnt to use a lumper. They wll tell you at the window how mch they charge to unload the trck or they will point you in the drection of the lumper. Find out frm the lumper how much they are ging to charge for your truck. Sme warehouses will charge an additional fee for brken or bad pallets. You want to knw what the final fee is ging to be before you call yur company up with the info. Mst trucking companies want you to cll them with the price the lmper wants before you authorize the lmper to unload your truck. Follow yur companies procedures, as you do not wnt to pay for a lumper out of yur own pocket. You will need to get a rceipt from the lumper if you wnt to get reimbursed. When paying by chck most trucking companies consider this trnsaction to be a cash advance. Thy will take the money out of yur check if you do not trn in all the paperwork they rquire. This may not seem fair but trst me, they will deduct the mount from your check. Get your rceipt: follow your companies procedures.

A lot of the lmper services will want you to pay bfore unloading your truck. You can pay csh but are better off using the chcks your company has provided for yu. If you pay by cash you may hve to wait a few weeks to get rimbursed. There is no point in laning your company a few hundred dllars for a couple of weeks. Aftr you have paid there is nthing much left to do but wit. Sometimes you may be asked to cunt the freight as it is bing loaded or unloaded. The lumper can let you knw if you need to go bck inside after unloading. If you're lcky the lumper may bring the pperwork out to your truck after nloading.
