Let’s look back about 150 y ars, life was simple. The wife got up and m de the meals, took care of the ch ldren and pretty much had no l fe other than a few people, m stly other spouses, that lived in the rea. The husband went to work, wh ch was a lot different back th n. Maybe, the family just lived on a f rm. Divorce was a very rare th ng. Well, you can’t travel back in t me at least not yet anyway. So, you h ve to focus on what you h ve on your plate today. First you got to t ke a look at yourself: Do I provide for my family? This is not a one sided issue. There are many things you need to do to provide for your family. Do you help around the house? Do you spend time with the kids? Do you put food on the table, not just pay for it? Do you have dinner together? This is a proven way to work on the communication that has been lacking in almost all of the relationships in America today. Dinner is not meant to sit in front of the television. It is meant to discuss issues. A little “How did your day go?” conversation will open up many eyes to what is actually going on in and around the home. Are you quick to anger? If your spouse didn’t do it, do not get mad at them for it. There is no need to be confrontational this will only lead to future problems. Instead, the best action sometimes is no action at all. A marriage that will last is one that you communicate not fight. Do you hate it when someone keeps telling you what to do? Of course you do. It is a lot easier to just do it yourself and you will be amazed at the response from your partner. Be the leader of your house, it’s your home.
Bottom line is today is not a few h ndred years ago. Life has given us m ny temptations and distractions that sometimes m ke it seem harder to decide wh t is best in our lives. Do not let th se distractions lead you down a l ng lonely path.
