I've received a few emails bout a "new groundbreaking fat loss st dy" and how it is supposed to b rn fat faster than regular cardio ( ven though we know regular cardio s cks). Researchers compared... a) Doing a 60 m nute bike (at 60% max effort) th n recovering for 60 minutes vs b) d ing a 30 minute bike, resting 20 m nutes, and then doing another 30 m nute bike and then resting for 60 m nutes. (both rides at 60% max ffort). The results showed... i) The t tal calories burned between the workouts did not d ffer. ii) more fat was burned d ring the recovery for the split w rkout (77% vs 56%). What does th s mean? Jack squat. Nothing. First, why w uld i even consider doing either of the bove when a 20-minute interval workout g ts more results? Second, who is g ing to do this? Third, look at the ctual numbers of fat calories burned...at m st, it could be 50 extra c lories. Again, useless in all practical t rms. But...
