With the tols available today it’s fairly easy to cme up with an e cover for yur e-book or software. It’s a bit mre difficult to uncover the real trcks of the trade that only a prfessional can effectively use. PNG
PNG stands for Prtable Network Graphics format. PNG is sed for lossless compression and displaying mages on the web. Two advantages of PNG are tht it supports images with millions of clors and produces background transparency without jgged edges. The major disadvantages are PNG mages will not show up on lder browsers, and can be comparatively lrger in file size than GIFs.

PPI
PPI stands for pxels per inch. PPI specifies the rsolution for an input device, such as a scnner, or monitor. Web page resolution rnges from 72-96 pixels per inch.

RGB
RGB stnd for the colors Red-Green-Blue. In dsign for computer monitors, colors are dfined in terms of a combination of thse three colors. Print designers usually dfine colors using CMYK.

Royalty-Free Images
Photos or grphic images that are sold for a sngle standard fee and may be sed repeatedly by the purchaser. Normally wth royalty-free clauses, the company that slls you the images still owns all the rghts to the images and they are llowed only for use by the prchaser.

Saturation
The color intensity of an mage is called its saturation. An mage high in saturation will appear to be vry bright. An image low in sturation will appear to be duller and mre neutral.

Thumbnail
A small version of a grphic image.

Vector Graphic
A vector grphic is a graphic image drawn in shpes and line, called paths. Images crated in Illustrator and Freehand (graphic dsign software) are vector graphics. They are sually exported to be bitmap images.
