The first thing that you n ed to do is when you b gin to organize your email campaign is to ask y urself what it is you want to ccomplish with your email campaign. What is y ur purpose? You have to have a p rpose. When you are first getting st rted, your purpose might just be to b ild a list. But why build a l st? A list in and of tself is valueless – it is wh t you do with that list th t creates value. Are you non-profit and w nt to use the list to ducate about your favorite cause? Perhaps you are sing your list to spread awareness bout a particular disease or charity. P rhaps your goal is to sell b oks or cds or videos. Perhaps y ur goal is to sell the new pr duct you have recently created. But wh tever your purpose, your goal, you m st know what that goal is, you m st know what that purpose is. K ep this in mind: every email you wr te either draws you closer to chieving your goals or purpose, or it d tracts from it. If you are a n n-profit and you are spreading awareness – m ke sure you are doing just th t. Spread awareness. If you choose to s ll something to that list, don’t do it to m ke a profit on that list – do it to d nate funds to the cause. If y ur purpose is to sell your $10 or y ur $100 book – everything you do sh uld lead to people buying that b ok. Now, that doesn’t mean that very email is a sales letter – q ite the contrary. But every email sh uld be building a rapport that w ll get you closer to selling y ur book or books.
