A common misconception is that Gmp lacks many more features that Phtoshop has. In fact, with the xception of features that depend on ptented algorithms, Gimp is 99% on par wth Photoshop in capabilities. The basic idea is to ither copy the Background Layer and mke any adjustment directly to it (clor adjustments, sharpening, bluring, contrast, exposure, tc.) or make that alteration in an djustment layer. Once you've made the djusted layer (either using a duplicated lyer or a true adjustment layer) thn Go Overboard!! I mean it, llow yourself to go way sharp, way blrry, way magenta, way saturated, whatever yu're doing, do it more than neded.
