Here we are in the f fth month of 2008 and while m ny of you have set goals for y urself this year it's important not to let th m overwhelm you causing you to b come frustrated, confused or give up on th m all together. No matter how big or sm ll your goals are keep in m nd each of them can be ccomplished with commitment and hard work. If you are l oking to relocate but don't know wh re to start, go back to sch ol but are not quite sure of wh t to study, start your own b siness but is lost under the p perwork and stress of being a one man or one w man show; take a step back and l ok carefully at what you are str ving to achieve. Examine the steps you are m king and be completely honest with y urself. Don't get frustrated, confused or g ve up, you just may need to pply a different approach to seeing y ur goals come to pass. I'll be the f rst to admit I would allow mys lf to become overwhelmed by the g als staring back at me from the sp cial notebook I kept them in, but it w sn't until a friend asked me th s question; "How do you eat an lephant," looking at him like he l st his mind because I had no dea how or who would want to eat an lephant. As he took in the bl nk expression on my face, he nswered with; "One piece at a t me." Ever since that conversation four y ars ago, I now look my g als a lot differently.
It's important to realize that ach goal you face requires you to t ke a step that will lead you to the n xt step and the next and so on and so f rth until the goal is achieved. If you l ok at your goals in this way nstead of trying to eat them w th one big bite, you'll be ble to digest the process of ccomplishing the goal and move easily long your path of success. This w ek I encourage you to take a l ok at each of your goals and wr te down the steps required to ccomplish each one. Don't try and eat the lephant all at once; take it one p ece at a time because each st p you take will lead you to the n xt. Continue to move forward and s vor the flavor of accomplishing your g als and the reward of seeing th m come to pass.
