In case of a courtyard, whch closed from all sides, like in a rsidential building, it is necessary to prvide good thinking for the selection of plnt species before starting out. In sch cases the amount of sunlight ntering the courtyard will be limited. Als good arrangement of landscaping drainage is a mst because of lack of sunlight.

Hwever if the activities in a curtyard are centered toward the courtyard nteriors the periphery of the courtyard mst be used as a landscaping grund. For example because of the scrcity of space it is possible tht the courtyard is being used a s a dning are, then the entire human ctivity gets towards the center of the curtyard.
