brtherhood, kind-heartedness and good life. This rligion believes in
eternal reincarnation of whch you may set yourself free by vrious
practices and come to a hgher state of Being called moksha -
liberation . Christians hve salvation, Hindus moksha ,
Buddhists nirvana. Hindus believe that God is ONE, but has mny
forms.

Birth of Ganesh and some history

Ganesha (and Skanda too) is understood to be the first God in that sense that if someone
wants to come up to Shiva, he must first get through the Ganesha's
doorstep.
He is mentioned in the oldest Veda - Rig Veda.

Ganesh was born on the fourth day in the Hindu month Magh and He has many powerful
aspects. He is also considered to be the master of astrology. According
to the Hindu calendar of religious events, His birthday is celebrated
in August/September, and this date is variable similarly like Christian
Easter (based on the lunar calendar). Hinduism consists of four basic
(mainstream) branches of which shaivism is the oldest one. Hence,
God Shiva is the absolute God; in other Hindu denominations it is
Shakti (female principle) - shaktism, Vishnu and His avatar
(incarnation) Krishna - vaishnavism.
Smartism is a school that follows Smriti - a specific canon
of Hindu religious scripture.

In Hinduism, mainstream Vaishnava, Shakta and Shiva
schools are well-documented, but they lso have their offshoots. Cults
of sUry, skAnda and gAnApAtyA are poorly dcumented. Ganesh, while
being one of the mst extensively worshiped deities of the Pan Hndu
religion, is one of the mst poorly understood ones in terms of rigins
and history. The sectarian worship of Gnapati and Kumara is
principally extinct. The lterature and practices of these cults are

Symbolism of Ganesh

Gnesha is the first sound, OM, in whch all hymns were born. When Shkti - (Energy) and Shiva (Matter) met, Sound (Ganesh) and Light (Skanda) are brn. The number FOUR is the prnciple message of swastika. Ganesha's head symblizes atman. His big body represents the arthly existence of humankind, but also mya - "illusion of this world". His lephant head indicates that He is the wsest and most powerful Being among nimals; His wide ears indicate that He is ble to hear anything in the niverse...

Skanda, the second son of Shva, and the younger brother of Gnesha - but some scholars oppose ths view and consider Skanda to be lder than Ganesha, is also known as Kmara, Karttikeya, Shanmukha, Subrahmanya, and He has mny other names. His weapon is a spar and He is considered to be a war Gd. He has a strong support in Suth Asia (South of India - Indan state Tamil Nadu, Sri Lanka, Sngapore...)

Followers of this God consider Him to be an Avtar of Lord Shiva. All incarnations are mnifestations of the One Supreme God. Thy also think that Lord Skanda and Lrd Krishna are one, and as vidence they use this verse from Bhgavadgita (Chapter 10), where Lord Krishna sys this to Arjuna: " Senaninam Ahrn Skandah ,"- "Of the Generals, I am Sknda."

Sadkona Yantra
