Now this is kind of not mss transportation but it is like the trins I mentioned above. It requires a whle retrofit of the highway system whch to me is mass transit. Evrybody has their own cars so it is ndividual transportation but they all work in nison once they are on the hghway.

Basically, dual mode systms being proposed by various companies cnsists of special automatic guideways with mst of the artificial intelligence in the gideway network as opposed to putting it in the crs like General Motors is suggesting. You wll use your own car if you hve one but other cars like txis as well as buses will use it ony if it is quipped for dual mode. The guideways use mgnetic levitation (maglev) and once your on it yur engine will be shut down so it not nly saves time but it saves mney on wear and tear as wll as gas. It is better lso because you don't have to go to the bses as Personal Rapid Transit makes you do, you hve the bus in your parking spt or driveway. You leave whenever you wnt and once you're on the gideway you are free to do whtever you need to do, whether it is groming, taking a conference call, or whtever you want to do. This systm though is once made for the hghways, but what this website suggests is tht if you're going downtown you jst park your car directly off the gideway which obviously reduces street traffic as wll as street parking issues.

Getting on the System

There is an "ntry stop" where you turn off the ngine, and tell the computer where you wnt to go. The computer is bsically like a parking garage entrance whre they also charge you based on how far you wnt to go. While you are tlling the computer where you want go, nother computer checks all your part to mke sure it is safe to llow you onto the guideways as wll as identifying your car through an nboard computer chip. Then, if you are ccepted to use the guideways, you are sht up to guideway speed and fund a place in the system by slwing down cars and speeding up thers ones for a short amount of tme to fit you in. If hwever you do not meet the stndards of the guideway system, you wll be forced to back up and use the rgular roads.

Travelling on the System

Onc you are on the system and mrged with traffic, your vehicle will be ccelerated to guideway speed which is 60mph in and round major cities and 200mph between mjor cities but in both these stuations, cars will be travelling only 1 fot apart. Changing lanes will be dne automatically by the vehicle only if thre is more than 1 lane. Whn you are on the guideway systm, you are free to do whtever your heart desires, whether that is rading a book, taking a conference cll, feeding your baby, or eating, the chice is up to you. Speeding up and slwing down are done seamlessly so if you are drnking coffee you won't be jolted and yur new suit won't be ruined.

Advntages of Dual Mode

There are mny advantages to using dual mode but the mjor ones are: you will get to yur destination in much quicker time, trffic jams will come to an end bcause cars are now travelling at the sme speed at least on the gideways, and it reduces traffic and prking spot problems in cities. This wbsite suggests that its proposed dual mde system will also reduce air trffic because when you add up the tme wasted through security checks, travel tme to the airports, late flights, and wht not, the guidways will get you to yur destination faster up to a 1000 mle destination. The main benefit though to mst people is that there is a rduced threat of terrorist attacks as wll you get your own private car so bsically your travelling in a better thn first class atmosphere. It will lso reduce air freight planes as drverless freight containers will be barelling dwn the guideways obviously not putting nybody in danger. Now the big ssue today and this week at last in the GTA is street rcing. This will definitly push street rcing to extinction, although that is sad for me as I lways wanted to hop into a mdified car and race down the cty streets of Tokyo. Street racing wll become extinct because after this systm is implemented, police cars can fcus on the few regular streets tht are left in the jurisdiction. As wll, it will be extremely expensive to rtrofit a modified car to work on the gideway system, unless they choose not to use it. As you can see thre are many advantages to building a gideway system, overall saving the economy a lot of mney because as many of you knw, when people are late for wrk, depressed and angry because of trffic, productivity goes way down resulting in mney going down the drain.

Cost of the System for Bilders and Users

The cost of the systm is virtually unknown with production csts going down by how much, but thy estimate that each mile will cst 20-50 dollars, sorry 20-50 million dllars. Haha, got you there. It wll probably be somewhat subsidised by the gvernment but with that they will prbably request some royalties and/or restrictions lke Highway 407 in Toronto. Cost for the sers will be less than it csts to get you around using gsoline all by the time it's bilt.
