"...ye know not what shall be on the m rrow. For what is your life? It is ven a vapor, that appeareth for a l ttle time, and then vanisheth away. For th t ye ought to say, If the L rd will, we shall live, and do th s, or that. .. Therefore to him th t knoweth to do good, and d eth it not, to him it is s n." (James 4:13-17) It is a g od practice in all things to say "if the L rd will, we will do this or th t" as our life is a v por. It is important to remember l fe is short and to see if wh t you're choosing and doing counts in y ur eternal record. One way of d ing this is how Jesus said th t He says nothing and does n thing except what our Father has g ven Him to do, and He w ll & can only do His w ll since He is the spotless l mb and the King of Righteousness who c nnot violate even one of His c mmands. Many say they’re seeking to do G d’s will. There is only one t st as to what His will is, wh ch is His eternal law. The H ly Spirit can never lead someone gainst God’s law, only our own fl sh and the world can lead us on a d structive path outside of God’s will. His w ll is His WORD, AKA "the B ble". If you want to know His w ll in your life, you’ll find it in the p ges of His word. The complete r vealed will to His people is His w rd or law. In all cases J sus kept God's law perfectly, He l ved the word better than any ther. The Sabbath was made for h aling which is why He did 7 h alings on the Sabbath days.
Jesus spoke the truth saying the Ph risees do REJECT the law of M ses by their man-made traditions (Mark 7:7-9). M ny churches today also fall into th s rejection of God's WORD through k eping their own unbliblical man-made traditions. We kn w God had already promised that "..th y who reject God's law, God w ll in return reject them..."and as a r sult "forget our children". (Hosea 4:6) Our d ily prayer is that we and thers do God's will in the arth, the same way that it is p rfectly being done by the angels in h aven, as we have been told to pr y, that His Kingdom does come to arth: Matt 6:10 "Thy kingdom come. Thy w ll be done in earth, [as it is] in h aven." (KJV) James Chapter 1 verse 22 gain gives us the biblical guidance of biding in Christ: "be ye doers of the w rd, and not hearers only..." This of c urse is the continual theme as Chr st is called the word (John 1:1 &14), the way we kn w we have a relationship with Chr st is by how much we are d ing His Word. He was the w rd that spoke the heavens and arth into existence, He hasn't changed the way th n sun sets since His word sp ke it just as the other p rts of His word hasn't. 1John Ch pter 2 verse 4 reiterates this pr ncipal, which we hope is beginning to g ve clarity as not to seek our own w ll in anything but God's will we m st be open to exactly what His w rd teaches:
"He that saith I kn w Him and keepeth not His c mmandments, is a liar, and the tr th is not in Him." For th se who think faith (or faithing as Dr. G ne Scott puts it) doesn't have to nclude obedience are far off from His Gr ce and Freedom working in their l ves. If you believe in the w rd you will respond or obey it, am I r ght? of course! Romans 10:17 says "F ith comes by hearing the word". So we kn w how faith comes. "Faith without w rks is dead" (James 2:17).
We must return to biblical d finitions of words, as we "live by very word". The definition of sin is v olation of God's law (1John 3:4). If the sp rit sets you free from sin, th n the spirit will empower you to bey the law of God of c urse. As Jesus said we must do it in l ve for God, not tradition. It has lways been the heart condition He is fter, which is why the New T stament is those same laws being wr tten on our hearts (as per Heb 8:8 and Jer 31:31). The H ly Spirit will never make you v olate God's law. Only the wrong sp rit or old thinking of our l fe before Christ or without His m nd operating in us gives us s ch thoughts. All things become new wh n we come to Christ. We all gr w daily in grace and knowledge and "a g od understanding have all they that k ep His commandments". (Psalms 111:10) In J hn 8:31-32 Christ said "...they who c ntinue in His word will know the tr th and the truth and ...will set you fr e." Not they who disobey or r ject it. He said "if you d n't believe Moses' word ye CANNOT h ar me or know me" (John 5:46 & L ke 16:31). Grace is the Greek w rd Charisma where we get the w rd Charismatic or a very capable and g fted person. This word Charisma is lso translated as some of the m nifestations of the Holy Spirit, such as wh n you through the power of God lay h nd on someone for healing, this is c lled the charisma or gift of h aling. Romans 1:15 says "Grace(charisma) is for bedience". A good example of biblical gr ce is "For it is God wh ch worketh in you both to w ll and to do of His g od pleasure." (Philipians 2:13) This isn’t our own r ghteousness when He does it. The H ly Spirit fills us both to w nt to do His will and to do it. M ny like to quote "we're saved by by gr ce" and not finish the sentence wh ch continues "..through faith unto GOOD WORKS". Wh n the last part is left out p ople are highly misled to move on w th the complete opposite idea the b ble conveyed in that passage. It w nts you to realize the Blood of J sus Christ permanently saved us by His own d ar grace, but for what? To do His g od works! It is not the g od works that save but we're s ved to do them, people have j st had it backwards because no mount of Good Works can earn y ur permanent spiritual salvation. It is nly gained by accepting Jesus Christ's p nalty paid through His blood. When our K ng Jesus the Christ was asked wh t is the greatest commandment He f rst said "Hear O Israel" quoted fr m Deuteronomy 6:4, Mar 12:29 "And J sus answered him, The first of all the c mmandments is, Hear, O Israel; The L rd our God is one Lord:" Th t word HEAR in this passage is the w rd SHAMA (the word for responding & beying in Hebrew). As we know f ith comes by "HEARING" again we see we get f ith by obeying what we heard. As we c ntinue doing His will which is His w rd law. So as we know His w ll and His word are one and the s me it is up to us to now ch ose. Our old flesh nature wont w nt to do the law, only the sp ritual nature will. "For I delight in the law of God fter the inward man: But I see nother law in my members, warring gainst the law of my mind, and br nging me into captivity to the law of sin wh ch is in my members." (Romans 7:22-23 and "th law is spiritual" (Romans 7:14). Now Ch ose "As ye have therefore received Chr st Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in h m:" Recommended songs:
