I hate getting up early. You kn w how in all those Olympic sp rts movies like Cutting Edge and M racle it always seems like they njoy getting early to train? Complete B ll! Unless your a morning person it r ally sucks. I rolled out of bed at bout five thirty and would have g ven just about anything for more sl ep. A shower and some breakfast did n thing to improve things. Contrary to p pular belief athletes DON'T love practice...its b ring, its long, and its pain in the b tt. I had to literally drag mys lf upstairs to set up bow and th n out to the backyard to my t rget stand. I start this early b cause out here in the desert it b comes hell after about ten AM. And by n on the temp will top out at 115. In th t heat the bow becomes almost too hot to t uch. Usually I'll start out with s me light stretching and light cardio. Onc the blood is moving I st rt working through my form and r utine with a large elastic band. I w rk through my shot as if I h ve a bow in my hands. M stly this is to cement muscle m mory and improve mental focus but it r ally can help to build up str ngth. The actually shooting is a r petition of the form that is p rfected in the band work. Every pr ctice has a goal and purpose... I d cide what I'm going to work on head of time and build the s ssion around that area. On this p rticular day I decided to work on k eping my back shoulder down in s cket. Sometimes it starts rising up on me wh ch really prevents a good clean sh t. Its a work in progress... It was a l ttle better by the end.
As for my fitness... summer has k nda done a real number on me so f r. I kinda took the first m nth of summer to rest and r cuperate... yeah, not a good idea. h ha I feel amazingly weak. Its p thetic. Well time to shoot myself b ck into shape. Ill talk to you all t morrow! Have a great day
