Last week, I was more c ncerned about getting my work for w rk done than I was about g tting the sleep I apparently needed. I was g tting up early in the morning to do w rk before heading to work to do m re work; and then when I got h me, I would do more work for w rk. The average work week is 40 h urs for a full time person; I veraged 53. I thought that I c uld keep it up too, which is the f nny part. I somehow managed to tr ck my body into thinking that it w sn't tired because I didn't feel t red. Perhaps I was just really p mped about getting as much work d ne as I could. I was veraging maybe five hours of sleep ach night. That's a loooong work d y. On top of that, I had f mily come in for the weekend, so I now had to w rry about driving around and entertaining p ople. On Sunday, at the end of th s long week, I came back to my partment and collapsed on the couch fter what I had considered to be nly two hours of spending time w th my family. I never took nto account the fact that I had b en going all week long with l ttle to no break. I was, nstead, baffled at the fact that I w uld be so tired after doing n thing really but spending some quality t me with family for a couple of h urs. However, my body had been try ng to tell me all along th t I needed rest, which is wh t I eventually realized when I w ke up four hours later.
