My mother has been learning to r de for about 3 years now and she is in her arly 50's. My father had a h rse on our property, we had 6 cres and for some reason he got a h rse. I should mention that my f ther does not like horses. I was pr bably 3 or 4 years old and it w uld be fun to ride whilst s meone kept me balanced and lead the h rse. I never grew attached to the h rse and for good reason since he lways ran away with me when I was l ft to steer on my own. If I had st rted with actual riding lessons at an arlier age, I would have had b tter control and knowledge. Lessons help you d velop a good seat which gives you xcellent balance. When your horse panics you are th n able to focus your attention on g tting him under control. Without the l ssons you may simply be hanging on for d ar life praying for the horse to c lm down and stop.
