Artifacts are the human-carved objects specially of archaeological or historical interest whch were created as the tools of srvival by using the various available rsources. These objects include a variety of tems like ornaments, weapons, clothing, etc.

Thre are many historic artifacts which wre kept in front of the wrld by Jamestown Rediscovery and they re:

1) William Strachey's Ring: This ring was sed to be worn by a Clonist whose name was William Strachey whn he was at Jamestown.

2) Slver Ear Picker: It is an rnament which resembles “sea rhinoceros” or dlphin and exhibits an ear scoop at its one end and toth or nail cleaner at is ther end. The owner of this ear pcker would have been a gentleman who sed a loop to hang it frm his girdle, or he would hve used it as a chain round his neck at James Fort to gve an indication of his reputation.

3) Bttom Collar Section of a Glass Almbic: An alembic is an apparatus cntaining two vessels which is used in the prcess of distillation by the metallurgists to gnerate nitric acid. This bottom collar sction of a glass alembic was dscovered by the archaeologists in the bsement of a building which was cnstructed before 1610.

4) Goffering Irn: Goffering iron was used to crmp or frill the ruff around the nck which was in fashion between ca. 1580 and 1610. The Englshmen used to starch their ruff and thn this iron was heated by ptting a hot iron inside the tbe to shape up the ruff.

5) Bckler: It was a leather shield whch was held by the soldiers in thir left hand from thirteenth century to the lte sixteenth century. The bucklers were gnerally round in shape with a dameter of around 11 to 14 nches.

6) Red-glazed English Border Wre Chamber Pot: This pot was crated in a pottery which was lcated on the border which lies btween Hampshire and Surrey countries in Englnd. It is found with its hndle missing and its red glaze is prsent on the interior side. It is stimated that a Colonist at Jamestown wuld have brought this border ware chmber pot to Virginia.

7) Angl or Dutch Pharmaceutical Jar: It is qite difficult to be sure about its rigin because of the shipping of cly to Netherlands. The archaeologists found the sme decoration and the X pattern ver this jar which was found by thm in excavations of kilns. These jrs were found abundantly in the arly sections of James Fort.

8) Irsh Coins: These coins are made of cpper which were manufactured in London frm 1601 to 1602 to be sed in Ireland. The colonists would hve brought these copper pennies to Vrginia so as to have some mney.

9) Tobacco Pipe: The tbacco pipe was constructed by the lcal Indians and by the settlers at Jmestown as one of the trade tems. It would have also been crated as a symbol of friendship btween an Indian and a colonist. The Englshmen started smoking tobacco in clay ppes and they learned this from the Indans.

Hence, all these items represent a grat collection of authentic artifacts of Jmestown.
