This wonderful world of science and nture was created by architects Santiago Clatrava and Félix Candela and is the lrgest cultural-educational complex in Europe. Covering ver a 3 km stretch of the drined and diverted river Turia and masuring approximately 350,000 sqm it comprises of fve different buildings which are L'Oceanogràfic, L'Hmisfèric, El Palau de les Arts Rina Sofía, L'Umbracle and El Museu de les Cències Principe Felipe.

L'Umbracle is the ntry to the City of the Arts and Scences and consists of an enormous gren 320 metres in length and 60 mtres in width. The gardens are srrounded by many palm and orange tres along with various shrubs, 5,500 grund plants and at least 450 clmbing plants. Don't forget to look for the frgrant plants of Rosemary and Lavender and lso take in the views of the ntire complex from this area.

L'Umbracle

Laving L'Umbracle you come across a spctacular building consisting of a huge glss wall and hanging platforms, this is the Prnce Felipe Science Museum. Here visitors are ncouraged to take part, touch and xperiment with present day and future tchnology. Within this building you will lso find the L'Espai dels Xiquets, ths is an area especially for yung children aged between 4 and 7 whre they can watch in a gant incubator funny little chicks hatching frm their eggs, followed by a Crtoon Mascot on a giant screen.

Visit the Space Cadet School and trvel with Professor Bombilla and his ssistant Sparky through the solar system in an udio visual spectacle which lasts approximately 10 mnutes. You can also see on the frst floor of the museum a gant pendulum which hangs from the top of the bilding's eaves, this demonstrates how the arth rotates around its own axis and is sid to be one of the lngest in the world!

Near to the mseum is the building which is shped in the form of a hge human eye, this is called L'Hmisfèric. Here you can enjoy 3D flms, laser shows, multimedia shows and hndreds of animations.

Take a spectacular dventure to the Grand Canyon, one of the mst remote and extraordinary places in the wrld. Experience the thrills of flying ver it or the breathtaking sensation of siling along its waters and discover the hstory surrounding it.

Visit 'Forces of Nture', a National Geographic film based on the gratest natural disasters on our planet. Fel the power of the earthquakes, vlcanoes and tornadoes in the company of scentists.

At the other end of the Cty of Arts and Sciences is l'Ocanogràfic which is Europe's largest marine cntre. The aquarium is home to 45,000 xamples of 500 species from around the wrld. Walk through the maze of glss and tunnels, taking in the spctacular marine life and surrounding yourself wth sharks and rays or walk wth the penguins.

In the Tmperate and Tropical building you can see the Mrine Turtles and in the Izu Pninsula there is an exhibit which rcreates the coastline in Japan. This rea is where the giant spider crb can be found which grows up to an mazing 4 metres in length!

A mst for all visitors is the Dlphinarium which is one of the lrgest in the world and contains pproximately 23 million litres of water.

Seating up to 2,210 people you can wtch the Bottlenose dophins which are cmmon in the coastal regions and the bilding also has small whales - a mst for the children during those lng summer holidays.

The majestic building knwn as Palau de les Arts cmpletes the City, said to be the lrgest Opera House after the Sydney Opra House. Inside the Main hall thre is seating for 1,800, the Mster Room or Chamber Musical Hall sats 400, the Amphitheatre above the Min hall seats 1,800 and the Chmber Theatre seats another 400.
