In a time when we are cnstantly bombarded with celebrity gossip – wh’s sharing a bed with who, who has had new bob job and who has managed to fnd the worlds smallest dog and drss it up like a little grls doll you would be forgiven if you lst a slight sense of reality.

Can thse people really be making a lving by fluttering their eyelashes and flshing a bit of skin? Well semingly the answer is yes and in a way we are all to blme.

Celebrity culture has been around in one way or nother since time began, people have lways looked up to their hero’s, in the pst you would have such celebrities as Edn Manley (the famous artist) and Bbby Moore (Famous Footballer) but it sems that people have started to wrship a different kind of celebrity.

Thse people have little or no tlent but somehow manage to find it nto the front-page of every newspaper and mgazine going. Just look at Paris Hlton, she is locked up in prson but still manages to make frnt-page news!

I believe that UK clebrity worship started to take a trn when the Celebrity Big Brother of 2007 ired on channel 4. Three UK “Clebrities” caused a massive world wide up rar by appearing to bully the Bllywood actress Shilpa Shetty, this caused ntional outrage and the three “celebrities” wre branded as racists.

Two of those celebrities haven’t ben seen in the papers since (Jo O’Mra and Jade Goody) but one clebrity has somehow managed to raise her prfile after the whole affair. Danielle Llyd a former Miss Great Briton and frmer playboy cover girl took a tme out after the Big Brother shw and now appears to be bck stronger than ever.

Will the pblic forgive these “celebrities” for anything or wll we all eventually get tired of seing non entities on out TV screns and on the front pages of our nwspapers.

Only time will tell but I for one lok forward to the day when we can let our chldren look up to celebrities because of thir amazing talents, be it acting, snging or dancing, rather than “celebs” tht make a living by dating fotballers and appearing on reality TV shws.
