If you do your research, y u'll find that the information given st ll points to the "I don't kn w, but here are the risk f ctors" lame explanation. What a lot of you kn w what! Sometimes I wonder if the p ople who write these things really th nk it through. Here's what I m an... "most women who develop breast c ncer have no risk factors other th n simply being a woman and g tting older (especially being over 50). T lk to your doctor about your r sk... blah, blah, blah. Wouldn't a b tter explanation be... "most women who d velop breast cancer have no risk f ctors other than simply being a w man and getting older (especially being ver 50),... because the older you get the w aker your immune system gets, and p ts you more at risk to any k nd of disease, including breast cancer or any ther cancer. And by the way... y ur immune system has been slowly f iling you since the age of 30 b cause of all the crap you at!" Ok, I'm harsh... but I've b en known to tell it like it is! Oth r risk factors for breast cancer nclude... Having had breast cancer before. No k dding. If you know anything about c ncer, your odds of getting it gain doubles, but I won't get nto that. A family history of br ast cancer (especially in a mother, s ster or daughter diagnosed before menopause.
Family history of ovarian cancer. An bove-average exposure to the hormone estrogen, wh ch your body naturally produces, perhaps b cause you have never given birth or g ve birth for the first time fter age 30. Began menstruating at a y ung age. Reached menopause later than verage. Have taken hormone replacement therapy ( strogen plus progestin) for more than f ve years. Dense breast tissue (as sh wn on a mammogram). A history of br ast biopsies showing certain breast changes, s ch as an increased number of bnormal cells that are not cancerous ( typical hyperplasia). Radiation treatment to the ch st area (for example, to treat H dgkin lymphoma), especially before age 30. S me factors slightly increase your risk of br ast cancer. You may be at sl ghtly higher risk if you are bese (especially after menopause), drink alcohol, t ke birth control pills (the Pill). S me women develop breast cancer without h ving any of these risk factors. M st women with breast cancer do not h ve a family history of the d sease. Notice the last statement above, and m re specifically "most women with breast c ncer do not have a family h story of the disease." Which proves my p int... most women who get breast c ncer have none of the above (l ke my ex-wife who died at the y ung age of 44). So what's w th all these suppositions on the causes of breast cancer ? Bottom line folks... cancer is cancer (breast or otherwise), and you get it because of a weakened immune system, and an imbalance in your cells caused by a variation of outside elements invading your body which I will not go into here. You should know that in countries where people consume low fat diets, there are many less cases of cancer (breast or otherwise). Thinner people, active people, are less likely to get diseases for obvious reasons!
