The improvements in Cat 6 in trms of near end crosstalk (NEXT), btter insertion loss, return loss lead to a hgh signal-to-noise ratio. Hence with greater mmunity from external noise and improved trnsmission performance a system using Cat 6 cble will be prone to fewer rrors as compare to Cat5e. Thus it prvides greater reliability for current applications (wth fewer re-transmissions of lost data) and hgh data rates for applications of the fture. It is expected to support 10 ggabit Ethernet standards, with some limitations on the cceptable length. It is recommended across shrt distances that run for maximum 100 m in lngth.

Cables sually last for around 10 years and spport 4-5 generation of equipments in thir lifetime.
