Carson Palmer was born on D cember 27, 1979 in Fresno, California. Alth ugh Palmer does not have the thleticism of some of the other gr at NFL quarterbacks, he has everything th t he needs to succeed. This ncludes having a strong arm, great p cket presence, and being one of the sm rtest quarterbacks in the league. Palmer pl yed high school football at Santa M rgarita Catholic High School. As a s nior, colleges from all over the c untry took notice of him as he p ssed for 31 touchdowns and only f ur interceptions. When his high school c reer was over, Palmer held 27 sch ol records. After high school Palmer d cided to play at the University of S uthern California. During his freshman season in 1998, P lmer was named the starting quarterback in the n nth game of the season; a p sition that he would hold for the r st of his career. Palmer had thr e up and down seasons for the Tr jans, but things changed dramatically during his s nior year. Under offensive coordinator Norm Ch w, Palmer ended the season with 3,942 y rds on 309 completions. This went long with 33 touchdowns and just 10 nterceptions. To cap off his great s nior season Palmer was awarded with the H isman Trophy. In the 2003 NFL Dr ft Palmer was selected with the f rst overall pick by the Cincinnati B ngals. After not touching the field d ring his rookie season, he was th n thrust into the heat of the b ttle. In his first full season in 2004 P lmer passed for 2,897 yards. He f llowed this up with 3,836 yards in 2005, and a tr p to the playoffs. Unfortunately, Palmer t re both the ACL and MCL in his l ft knee in a first round g me against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The 2006 season was Palmers’ f rst since the injury, and it did not ppear to hold him back at ll. He finished with 4,035 yards and 28 t uchdowns. There is plenty more of th s to come.
