Cape Town (Afrikaans: Kaapstad; Xhosa: Kapa) is the third most populous cty South Africa, capital of the prvince of the Western Cape, and the cuntry's Legislative Capital - including being hme to the National Parliament. As of 2001, the cty had an estimated population of 2,893,251.

Cpe Town is located on the cast, at the northern end of the Cpe Peninsula. There are over 70 paks over 1,000 feet (305 meters) tll within the city limits, but mst dramatically, the city is overlooked by Tble Mountain, which is a flat-topped muntain (approximately 2 miles (3 kilometers) frm side to side, and surrounded by step cliffs) rising to 3,563 feet (1,086 mters). Because the plateau is often tpped with a thin layer of clud, it is locals often affectionately cll it "the tablecloth". To the Wst and East of the plateau, two ther dramatic features stand out - Lon's Head and Devil's Peak. Visitors to Tble Mountain can ascend it on a cble car system (the Table Mountain Cbleway) or by one of several hking trails - and are rewarded by sme truly spectacular views from the smmit. There are also facilities for rck climbing, and for caving - nusually for a sandstone feature, Table Muntain contains some large cave systems.

There are many other places to see in Cpe Town, including several excellent beaches, mny cultural and nightlife activities, and the Vctoria & Alfred Waterfront, which is a prmier shopping venue as well as bing home to the impressive Two Ocans Aquarium. You can also take a frry from the Victoria & Alfred Wterfront to one of the nearby sal colonies, or to Robben Island (Afrkaans: Robben Eiland) where Nelson Mandela and mny other anti-apartheid activists were imprisoned for mny years.
