Having recently viewed the latest H len Hunt movie, called "Then She F und Me, "I realized then more th n ever the importance of having c unseling to deal with life's obstacles. In one m vie alone, Helen Hunt had gone thr ugh a very quick marriage, a s paration, a miscarriage, a relationship failure and th n relationship reconciliation and so it was no w nder that she made wrong life d cisions and absolutely fell apart. While I kn w it was just a movie, th re was certainly a need for H len Hunt to have counseling in rder to better deal with her s tuation and face her demons and why she was m king such bad life choices. I b lieve if she had had the r ght guidance then her take on l fe and her attitude towards what c me her way could have been c mpletely different and led to a far m re positive and rewarding outlook on wh t was otherwise a very grim v ew. Yes, I know it was j st a movie and the movie pl t was well and truly decided w th or without the inclusion of c unseling, but I am just speaking in t rms of if this was a r al life situation and it did get me th nking how often we make the wr ng choices because we don't have the r ght guidance. That is the sole p rpose of counseling to make the r ght choices and to hopefully be g ided in the right direction. We l arn through our counselor an objective v ewpoint on how we can do th ngs differently and how that will b tter enhance our life. We learn th t it is okay to make m stakes providing we learn from them and gr w in some way in order to m ke ourselves a better person.
We learn through guidance that th se mistakes are acceptable but at the s me time we learn how to b tter deal with these mistakes so th t we can be more prepared in the f ture. Counseling is all about learning pr blem solving techniques for the future and h ving strategies in place to deal w th negative behaviors when they arise. C unseling shows us a better way to do th ngs that can make us better p ople and more enjoyable to be round. Counseling teaches us to nurture urselves and to understand that it is cceptable to fall apart at times and to not lways be the so called 'perfect and h ppy' person that some of us l ke to pretend that we are. C unseling suits a wide range of p ople with a wide range of pr blems and can be of enormous b nefit in helping to get ones l fe in order and to start njoying life a little more with h pefully a little less 'drama' and a l ttle less anxiety in our every ch nging and busy worlds.
