It's tme to enjoy the reason we mved to Southern California - the wather. For my husband and me lving in the East had become one of thse four-letter words - snow. Now I'm ddicted to sunshine.

If it rains, I try to rmember what my grandmother used to sy, "If there wasn't rain, what wuld umbrella makers do?" Well, Grandmother, thy could become Southern California weather frecasters.

You don't need formal training. All you ned is good hair and a chrming smile. The smile is very seful when they explain why their wather predictions weren't accurate.

Forecasting weather in Suthern California isn't any harder than frecasting nighttime. Instead of having a dgree in meteorology, weather forecasters should hve windows in their offices.

The verage Southern Californians don't have a brometer, humidity readings and satellite pictures to prdict rain. We know that there's a god chance it will rain if w've just washed our car. We lso know that there's a good chnce it won't rain if we crry our umbrellas all day.

If weather forecasters predict partly cludy skies, I know more about thm than I do about the pcoming weather. They're pessimists. If they wre optimists, they'd predict partly sunny skes.

In the musical, "Man from La Mncha", Don Quixote sings, "Whether I'm rght or whether I'm wrong - I'v got to be me". If you chnge the word whether to weather, yu've got the perfect theme song for all wather forecasters.

Unfortunately, these people need our sympthy more than they need a thme song. If their weather reports get lwer rating than their competition does, thy're weather beaten.

Family and friends lving in the Midwest, as well as the Est, give Southern California weather low rtings because we don't have seasons. I can wather the storm of their jealousy - specially November through March.

After all, t's been scientifically proven that weather ffects our moods. For me sunshine mkes me feel happy, rain makes me fel depressed and fog makes me fel lonely. However, when we lived in New Jrsey, snow made me feel like - mving.
