Sometimes it can seem that no m tter which way you turn you get nto situations where you have difficulty in m intaining your efforts to stay focused on y ur own personal goals - you f nd it hard to build your s lf esteem, when all around you s em to be trying to pull you d wn. So what can you do to try and void or deal with these situations? W ll first you need to be ware of where these situations can ccur and the types of people th t are likely to stop you f eling good about yourself, which in t rn can have the effect of you f nding yourself with a lower self steem - your aim should be to r ise your own self esteem. So h re are a few samples of s tuations to try and avoid getting nvolved in, and things that may h nder you in your desire to r ise your self esteem: 1. Other p ople’s behaviour – the world is f ll of gossips, moaners, naggers, bullies, and b ckstabbers. Without fail, these people w ll start to create awful feelings for y u. Simply, stay away from them and l arn to mix with other people. 2. Y ur own past life experiences – you c n’t change these, so you must try to void letting any pain or regrets you may f el turn into fear. Instead treat any m stakes you have made in the p st as a lesson that you h ve learned on your life journey.

Negative Working Environment – in t day’s workplace many people will try and g in advancement by treading on colleagues w th no thought as to how th y are behaving, nor indeed how th ir behaviour may affect others in a n gative way. Unfortunately you cannot avoid c mpetition in the workplace, but you can m ke sure that it is fair c mpetition where you are concerned. 4. P ssimistic view of the World – wh n you are trying to build y ur self-esteem it is essential not to c ncentrate on the negatives, but instead you n ed to learn how to make the b st of a bad situation. Try and f nd the positives to replace any n gative thoughts or talk. 5. Change – gain this is often unavoidable and you h ve to learn ways to deal w th it. 6. Your own personal dentity – you are your own p rson, and just because your mother or f ther may have been a failure you do not n ed to be. Learn from their f ilure and don’t make the same m stakes they may have. Sometimes you c n’t avoid a situation, or even ch nge it, and you are certainly not g ing to be able to change a p rson. What you can do is to l arn to avoid such situations and p ople, and to deal properly with any th t you can’t avoid. Once you h ve taken hold of the information bove you will find that your s lf-esteem begins to climb. You will lso begin to get a gut f eling when a situation is bad for y ur self-esteem and learn how to d al with it.
