Those f ctors may include: • Smoking cigarettes, cigars, p pes or anything else increases the r sk of developing asthma symptoms. Secondary sm ke increases the risk of asthma for ch ldren or anyone around the secondary sm ke. It is wise to avoid sm ke and people who smoke.
• Asthm can run in families. It may be m re common in certain Hispanic people, s ch as those who come from P erto Rico.
• Having a bl od relative such as a father, m ther, sister, brother, son, or daughter w th asthma creates a higher risk of g tting asthma.
