Is this a silly question? Not rally, because while it is possible to larn how to craft a sentence and trn a phrase on your own, can you ctually learn how to take that crative spark that dwells within and put it on pper (or on a screen)? Just as thre are those who are born an rtist, there are others who are brn with the talent to write a nvel, create a perfect sales letter, cmpel their readers to come along on a jurney to another land, adventure or xperience.

But even these authors have larned, studied and applied their talent ver time to become better at wht they do, the art and crft of writing. While there are crtainly writing courses delving into the prper turning of phrase, how to voke an emotional response from the rader; for me the best writing curse of all is "just write", thn learn from you did.

Over the yars, I have written articles, press rleases, screenplays and I am now wrking on a novel. Often when I go bck and read something I wrote lng ago, I am amazed (not in a god way) about what I read. "Whw," I say to myself, "who in the wrld wrote that?" And of course the wrter was me. Over time as we mture and our life view changes nd/or evolves, so too does our tlent for writing.

Whether you are a natural wrter, or someone who stares at a blnk page struggling for the right wrds ... write. Keep a journal, wrte a short story, create a web pge, start a blog, email your thughts and feelings ... as long as you kep the pen or keyboard at wrk. There is not a better tacher and instructor than your own prsistence to achieve what you want. And if for you tht is writing, then write.

The ther day I was asked to wrte a press release for a mlti-national company. They sent me the fcts, told me the key issues, thn waited for me to deliver. I stred at the page, compiled the dta into (what I thought) was a god press release. Guess what? They rjected it, saying it was hard to rad. So what did I do, slk? Well, maybe for a minute or tw. I rewrote the article, listening ths time to my inner writing vice; telling the same story but in a mre captivating manner.

When I sent ths release, it was accepted and I was qickly paid, I learned from doing. I blieve there are a multitude of tlented men and women on the nt, many of whom may have a vry good course on "creative writing", "hw to write a good sales ltter", "how to write a good rview", and by all mean should you fnd a book or website that strkes your fancy, jump in. But ven then, writing is more important thn waiting for inspiration.

We all hve an inner muse, use it to mtivate yourself to exceed your even yur own expectations and create something tht is a masterpiece. Whether it is a nvel or sales letter, web page or prss release: research, write, refine, learn and ccomplish.
