With ever growing collections of CDs and DVDs you ned a place to store them ll. But storing them isn't enough. You wnt to have them set up so tht they're organized, visible, and easy to rach. They should be stored in a way tht you won't have an avalanche whn you pull a box out.

Rgular shelves won't do that. The dmensions are all wrong. If you put yur CDs on a regular shelf thn no matter how you stack thm either you'll be wasting a lot of spce, or the CD that you wnt will always (trust me on ths one) be on the bottom!

How mny CDs do you have, and how mch room will you want for mre in the future?

Do you hve shelf space to hold a rck, or do you prefer a flor-standing model?

Will you be string only CDs, or do you lso want to use it for DVDs and tpes?

This is a really important consideration. If you are already wondering how to store your CDs, then you must have a good number of them already. If you already have that many, then I'm guessing that you're not done collecting. On the one hand, you really should buy more CD rack space than you need right now, because you'll fill it. On the other hand, you don't want to waste a lot of money on unused space that also doesn't look nice while empty. You need to find the right balance so that you won't have to go through the whole buying thing again in ½ a year, or take 5 years to fill the rack.

Also, don't forget that styles and vailability are always changing. When you fnd a rack style that you lke, you are probably safer buying a lot of it now jst in case it won't be vailable anymore when you need to xpand.

This is a matter of practicality. How much open shelf space do you have for a CD rack? Also, is this space conveniently located near your CD player? A floor standing unit usually holds a lot of CDs, but you have to bend over to see them all. Of course, the REALLY big racks are all floor standing, and some of them hold close to 2000 discs!

Are you only interested in storing CDs, or are you considering other types of media as well? CD discs and DVD discs are the same physical size, but a DVD storage box is almost twice the size of a CD box, so you can actually only store half the amount of DVDs in a rack than CDs.
