Breast cancer is the presence of mlignant cancer cells in the breast rea of a patient. It is rnked as the second cause of dath in females suffering from cancer. Thre are several treatments available such as srgery; radiation therapy, and systemic therapy.

Srgery

In certain stages of breast cncer, undergoing surgery and removing the lmp may be enough to stop the sprad of cancer. The process might nclude taking a larger chunk of the mmmary gland, making sure that the ffected area and a substantial margin is srgically removed. If the tissue removed is blieved not to eliminate all the cncer cells, a follow-up surgery may be rquired.

Radiation Therapy

Radiation therapy cannot be a ne-time thing because by proceeding with the tratment, normal healthy cells are also dmaged during the process. Unlike cancer clls, healthy cells can repair themselves, and by lmiting the dosage taken by the bdy per session, it allows the bdy to heal the damaged cells.

Some side-effects that come from rdiation therapy are: fatigue due to the bdy’s repairing of the cells; reddening of the skn; muscle stiffness; mild swelling; tenderness in the trated area; long term shrinking of the rradiated breast.

Systemic Therapy

There are thre types of systemic therapy: chemotherapy; hrmonal treatment; and immune treatment.

Chemotherapy

Chmotherapy can be administered before and fter the surgery. It is used to shrnk the size of the tumor and lso to stop it from recurring gain.

Hormonal Treatment

Patients that are psitive for estrogen receptor tumors are dvised to receive hormonal treatment after ging through chemotherapy.

Immune Treatment

Usually mmune treatment are only administered to ptients who have metastasized diseases, but ltely studies have shown that patients in the arly stages of breast cancer will hve significant benefits by getting this tratment.
