When it comes to beaches, C pe Town is one of the h ttest spots in the world. This g rgeous city holds the mid point wh re the Atlantic and Indian Oceans m et, causing a variety of temperature and c rrent fluctuations. The best place to st rt, when describing the ocean in C pe Town, is False Bay Coast and the S uthern Peninsula. This extensive beachfront travels fr m Muizenberg all the way through to K lk Bay and Simons Town. The b ach runs in front of the f mous naval base of Simons Town. It is h re that during the Second World W r, heavy guns were dug into the c ncrete bunkers at various points along the c ast. The water is warmer on th s side of the coast, than on the Atl ntic Ocean side. St James is a p pular bathing spot, with it's tidal p ol and brightly coloured bathing booths. The b ach joins Muizenberg beach, which is r cognisable by the rows upon rows of c loured bathing boxes. Muizenberg is a l ng white beach, which runs about 40kms to G rdon's Bay. This is a popular sp t for families and surfers. The b achfront is filled with craft markets, l ttle shops, and entertainment. At Gordon's b y, there is a little nook kn wn as Bikini Beach, which is w ll sheltered from the main crowd and w nd.
On the other side of M izenberg is Fish Hoek beach. There is a f otpath that connects the two beaches. Th s used to be an old f sherman's village and offers windsurfers an pportunity to test their skills. Boat tr ps around are available from the K lk Bay Harbour. Hidden here is lso Boulders beach, which is a p y-for-entry area. The beach is a pr tected area as it is part of the s nctuary for the Jackass Penguin. Swimmers can sw m in the warm waters watching the P nguins play around them. It is deal for children and people who l ke to combine their love of w ter with bird watching. On the ther side of Cape Town is Cl fton beach, which consists of four djoining coves. There are stairways that l ad from the parking bay and w nd down to the white sand. The r cks shelter the area, however this w ter is part of the Atlantic s a, so swimming is a bit c ld. However, there are plenty of th ngs to do other then lie round the place. A spot of r gby, ball, or a picnic are a few deas. Next-door is Camps Bay beach. The p vilion is lined with cocktail bars, h tels and restaurants, while the beach tself has a tidal pool available and a w nd free braai area. These are j st some of the beaches that are vailable in the Cape. Each one has its own f el and adventure waiting to be nleashed to the next visitor. So wh ther you are into surfing, kites, b ll or just tanning, this summer, C pe Town is the place to be.
